Development of Radioanalytical Programmes in Support of
Decommissioning Waste Management and Land Remediation
Specialist chemical and radiochemical analysis underpin a wide range of activities associated with safety, decommissioning and waste management of radioactive material. The development of a robust analytical programme must effectively meet all the requirements of the project. This requires close interaction between the project manager, site personnel and the analytical laboratory.
The course will enable project managers to
- Liase more effectively with analytical laboratories
- Agree the most appropriate analysis for a given application
- Ensure that appropriate samples are submitted for analysis
- Understand the limitations and assess the quality of the radioanalytical data
The course will also help project managers in the implementation of analytical programmes supporting contaminated land management strategy.
Course content
- Origins of radionuclides and their expected levels
- Legislation and analytical requirements
- Overview of radioanalytical techniques
- In-situ analysis
- Waste characterisation and analytical problems
- Development of an analytical programme from the analyst's perspective
- Development of an analytical programme from the project manager's perspective
A certificate of attendance will be issued at the end of the course
The cost of this course is £170 per delegate
